Naked people on bikes and other stories.

So today was a day off from work which was nice. The sun was out so myself and a few other guys from the hostel decided to do a bit of minor sightseeing around the city. My what a random day it was.
Firstly we headed to Chipotle (pronounced chi-pot-lay) for buerittos, which are amazingly good! On the way to our next stop I noticed a few of the cyclists coming up beside me were somewhat underdressed, pondered this for a moment then was offered a leaflet by a middle aged dude on rollerblades and a top hat. It was the annual naked bike ride again fossil fuels or something…

Sex in the City

So as mentioned earlier, tonight I went on the sex in the city tour with the company I work for. It started off not too bad, and I was really unsure as to whether or not I should even be on it. But I didn’t want to appear prudish so I went along with an open mind.
One of the more *ahem*interesting places we stopped off at was a place called Good Vibrations. I’m sure you can work out what they sell from the name. It was actually quite amusing.
Probably the cream on the pudding penultimate stop at a place called the Power Exchange, which is a legal sex club…

First day in San Fran

So after travelling for over 24 hours I finally made it to San Francisco. The boss picked me up at the airport and I got checked into a youth hostel in the city centre. Needless to say I was absolutely shattered.
I got up yesterday and availed of the generous free pancake breakfast, and made four huge pancakes with maple syrup. The hostel was running a free walking tour of the city so I reckoned this would be a good way to get orientated. I met some cool people on the tour, including an Irish couple which was nice…

Travel Update

I’m sitting tight in Atlanta Airport at the moment. This has been such a long day. I got up at 4am to get the bus to Dublin, arrived a good 3 hours early as instructed to find out that the flight was delayed 2 hours. 9 hours later my flight reaches Atlanta and I’ve missed my connecting flight to SF. The next flight is booked up so I’ll be 9.30 Eastern Time before I’m there. At that stage it will be around 26 hours in transit…

Cheerio

The time has finally come, in 10 hours time I shall be departing for Dublin on my way to San Fran. Thank you to all who sent cards and presents, I shall miss you all. I’m very hurriedly packing my stuff now, knowing full well that I’ll get on the plane kicking myself as I’ve forgotten something important!
I’ve been busy today with this website launch thingy, we had the official presentation of it today. It took my mind off things. All very mature and professional conversation despite the expected low turnout of enthusiasts…

Visa Approved

So, as expected, the interview was a complete farce. I took all 15 required documents with me, sat in a queue for 45 minutes and had a 2 minute interview to a woman behind bullet-proof glass. Prior to that I was searched and made to go through airport-like security. Completely over the top, in true American style. Excellent.
In other news, I cleared out my house today. I wish I’d had my camera on me, when I opened my food cupboard I was greeted with a rather ugly sight – my potatoes had sprouted quite badly…
